FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dr. ZeissDear Friends:

Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is excited to present the second annual ArtsFest at CPCC. This community
celebration of the creative arts promises something for everyone. During the week, you can experience an extraordinary
array of literature, music, visual arts, music, history, and cultural events on the beautiful CPCC Central Campus. This event highlights the outstanding arts programs at CPCC, as well as regional artists and scholars.

This year’s theme, Celebrating People, Culture, and Creativity, honors artists with ties to the Carolinas. Some of the highlights of this year’s ArtsFest include North Carolina Poet Laureate Kathryn Stripling Byer, renowned writer A. Van Jordan, rock/folk/bluegrass band Acoustic Syndicate, and Cindy Castano discussing her work in the Sudan. The national touring exhibit, Exposing Scarlet Letter: A Visual Response to the Scarlet Letter, will be on display in our Ross Gallery. New to ArtsFest this year is the Saturday Festival on the Green, which will feature music, artisans at work, an interactive community art project, storytelling, and much more. Admission to most of the events is free to the public.

I hope you will take time to experience all that ArtsFest 2008 has to offer, and be sure to tell a friend! CPCC is proud to present what I believe is becoming one of Charlotte’s finest celebration of the arts – ArtsFest at CPCC 2008.

Cordially,
